Nara Sushi

Today I had lunch with my friend Ted at Nara Sushi. He eats there so much the staff knows him and it was a treat to go! Nara has some of the best sushi I have ever eaten!

We were modest with our choices as we split a Spicy Salmon and a Rock & Roll Roll. I also had 3 pieces of yummy salmon sashimi.

I am excitable that you can order online; this might be bad in the long run but, overall, Amanda and I need a RELIABLE sushi lunch. While it might take longer to pick-up than the place around the corner... it's going to be soooo worth it!

When you're in Hampton Roads and you want sushi - GO HERE or Domo's in Downtown Norfolk.
Don't ask questions; JUST DO IT!

Excuse me, I'm going to need a minute alone. :)

...Sad Panda...

I wasn't able to make a bento for lunch today. Phone calls before 7am to tell you about school cancellations don't allow for time to make a lunch much less brush your hair before you leave the house. I did manage to brush my teeth and take a quick bird bath before getting in the car though. Heaven forbid I forget those things! ACK!

Sadly, I think I have the potential to lose up to 15k over this economy... and things were going pretty darn well! However, cancellations have been rolling in left and right. My heart hurts and I hang my head in sadness; I think I'll drown my sorrows in the biggest iced coffee ever.

Bento 01.26.09

Sadly, I was too hungry to take a picture of my lunch today. I completely forgot. It was a tasty chicken sammy, low-fat soup and jell-0 in a nice bento container with nuts and 100-calorie shortbread cookies for a snack later.

...Drew...

BTW, the roommate is currently being allowed to keep his job. I think he's on probation or something. I helped him write his apology letter and he didn't even say thank you! WTF!?!?!!

...Sickness..

I hate being sick; it's the worst things EVAH. Sadly, I've been feeling under the weather since about Saturday. It's just been general slight nausea and headache. Hell, I thought even possibly I might have news for everyone. Sadly, no. After 5 days of feeling nauseous I took a pregnancy test that came out negative. Then I KNEW I had to be sick. If I'd only known how badly!

I won't go into details; it was horrible. However, I survived and that's the important part! I have decided that I watch too much House though... I was waiting for my kidneys to fail and for me to die! Isn't it amazing how a TV show can get you all paranoid about stuff?

Thankfully, I am alive and on the road to recovery!

Bento 01.20.09

We were sent home from work today owing to impending weather that never appeared. I had my bento at home; it wasn't the same! However, I did get to watch Obama's Inauguration uninterrupted which was AWESOME!

...Life Happens...

This *is* my "things will be fine" face...

Roommate #2 just called and he's been suspended from work and believes he'll be fired on Wednesday!

Fucking great.

...Marscon 2009...

Tiste and I have gone to Marscon every year since we started dating. Last year was great fun - I went to a lot of panels and met some interesting characters. This year was fun also but for totally different reasons. This year Lisa came with us and we made the most of our weekend together!

We saw old friends, made some new friends and even managed a 'family' dinner on Saturday. We got to dress-up in strange outfits and geek out with others... and claim we weren't as geeky as that other geek that was just talking to that bigger geek.

Anyway... This years theme was Steampunk!

For those of you that don't know...

Steampunk is a subgenre of fantasy and speculative fiction which came into prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century, and often set in Victorian era England—but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date. Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of "the path not taken" of such technology as dirigibles or analog computers; these frequently are presented in an idealized light, or a presumption of functionality.

Steampunk is often associated with cyberpunk and shares a similar fanbase and theme of rebellion, but developed as a separate movement (though both have considerable influence on each other). Apart from time period and level of technological development, the main difference between cyberpunk and steampunk is that steampunk settings usually tend to be less obviously dystopian than cyberpunk, or lack dystopian elements entirely.

(According to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk)

And the theme freakin' rocked!

...Freakin' Love...

Oh, BTW...

Sunday Tiste and I spent hours rearranging the kitchen to make room for his toaster and the living room to make room for the charging station. We took the opportunity to throw a lot of stuff out and clean while we were doing it. He's too freakin' cute.

XOXO I LOVE THIS MAN! XOXO

WW Round... 3

I did Weight Watchers hardcore for awhile and lost close to 40-50 pounds then got bored with keeping track of points. I tried to start it again last October with Amanda but couldn't bring myself to track and plan. Sadly, I gained almost everything back. No excuses this time; I gotta do it. Lisa, Amanda and I are now all on the wagon.

I tried to order the 2008 pocket calculator last year and they were out of stock. However, I was able to order TWO just earlier this week - 1 for me and 1 for Lisa. The package came today and I was super excited... Until I opened the package.

Stupid WW only sent me ONE calculator and there is no Customer Service number on their website so I have to try to communicate with them via the web. Stupid Weight Watchers. Grrrrrrr...

I think it will be handy and even more handy if they had sent the right number of calculators! Sheesh. But, this does have a daily tracker on it so that you can count down on your points for the day w/o logging into the computer every 5 minutes.
