...House...

Well, this morning I discovered a leak under the bathroom sink.

*Heavy sigh*

As it turns out, the PVC pipe that Mr. Vaughn put in developed an "issue" and had a pretty rapid drip problem. Thankfully, and this is kind of hilarious, all the water dripped onto my pads and tampons so it absorbed the majority of the water. It couldn't have been dripping for that long (maybe a few days).

I cleaned out everything from under the sink and put a towel and bowl under the drip, gave Tiste our handyman's number (Travis is my freakin' HERO) and headed off to work. Tiste called Travis who came out and assessed the problem this afternoon and then was off to get parts. Turns out it's going to be able $40 (give or take a buck) to fix the issue. Should be done tonight.

This leads into a bitch session about the roommate...

I had to ask him to pick up some trash yesterday that... BTW, was right next to a trash can! I let it sit there for a week (yeah, I had hopes) and then he added more to the pile instead of throwing everything away last night. I calmly asked him to take care of his trash and he said, "Yes, Mom"... I calmly told him that if he would respect my house, pick up after himself and take responsibility as an adult then I wouldn't need to sound like his mother.

So, this morning, I asked the roommate to shave his head in the shower and not the sink (I even explained why) and he sarcastically replied with, "And do you have a mirror that I can borrow"? To which, I'll admit I finally did not have a nice remark. Tiste actually held me back so that I didn't brain the inconsiderate ass.

*heavy sigh*

Why does this man push my buttons!

Feeling..

every inch of my right kidney kinda sucks!

Meanwhile, I thought I was seeing things on the way home from my procedure last Friday so I took a picture to make sure it was real. Tiste saw it too; I am not crazy. Not this time.

Recovery is slow but I guess I'm doing better today that yesterday. Although, I'm feeling a bit like I need to lay down and I can't wait to get home.

...Rosa...

My car, Rosa, hit 100K on the way home from my brother's in January. She's been running really well and she's clicked away the miles for me without a lot of hussle since I bought her in 2004. Sadly, yesterday she failed for me the first time. After getting her towed to my guys Kevin and AJ on Virginia Beach Blvd (Would you believe that I was on only an hour from taking her there before it happened) I talked things over with Kevin.

We came to the conclusion that it was the timing belt but more diagnostics were needed to confirm since the noise JUST started and then *wham* it was all over.

Regardless, I've been reading online that the timing belt is suggested between 85K-100K on the Toyota Camry. So, we'll wait and see how Rosa fairs through all of this - she's been a good car, even if I don't wash her as often as I should!

Sweet Curry Shortbread Cookies

I've been wanting to do some baking lately but wasn't sure what I wanted to make until I ran across a recipe for Lemon Shortbread Cookies. It wasn't exactly what I wanted to make but I had all the ingredients - that was the kicker! I thought it over and decided that I would make the standard Buttery Shortbread Cookies. From there I remembered that Corax had brought some sugar cookies dusted in curry powder to a dinner at the house one time. While I was mixing the below recipe together I threw in at least a teaspoon or two of the powder.

It smelled awesome while they were baking and I can't wait until they're cooled!

Buttery Shortbread Cookies

Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour

Preparation:
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy; gradually stir in flour until well blended. Spread or pat in an ungreased 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Bake at 300° for 30 to 40 minutes, until just lightly browned. Remove from oven and immediately pierce all over with a fork. Cut into bars. Cool completely before removing from pan.

Update:
The 2 tsp didn't work. Make sure you use more like 1 Tablespoon so that you can taste the curry powder and read the instructions and don't grease your pan! :)
